I am  a  writer and home economist who loves the art of needlepoint. I live in
Sacramento with my husband who, for 39 years, has tolerated my quest to possess every
type of thread ever spun. I retired two years ago, after working 30 years as a writer
for the Sacramento Bee newspaper. I thought I would finally have time to do all the
stitching I wanted, but that hasn't happened. I am also a collector of needlepoint
canvases as well as a stitcher -- how else can I justify owning far more canvases than any
reasonable woman could possibly expect to stitch in a lifetime?  I have been stitching in
one form or another for most of my life.  I continue stitching and learning as much as I
can about textile art.
Besides my husband and stitching, I love cooking, gardening, golf and our two dogs,
Mickey & Lulu (the kids) who found us and won our hearts. My mom is a beader and a
tremendous inspiration for my creativity. I am a member of the American Needlepoint
Guild and Embroiders' Guild of America and  through those  associations I have found
many wonderful friends who enjoy the art of needlepoint -- almost as much as I do.

Stitch Knots . . .
Who's Who
If you haven't been to Auburn Needleworks lately, stop by and meet
owner Lisa Whittet. If you go on a Tuesday, plan to sit and stitch with
the addicted. Quite a few of us drop in every Tuesday  for an entire day
of stitching and gossip.

Lisa says she is not a stitcher (she's a knitter), but we've converted her.
She now carries lots of needlepoint staples and temptations. Plus she is
willing to special order just about anything we desire.  To help attract
new stitchers to the art, Lisa has added stitch classes. Visit  Auburn
Needleworks:
www.auburnneedleworks.com
Terry Christopher and her constant companion
Zoe, owns
2 The Point needlepoint shop in
Pleasanton. She  is an incredibly talented stitcher
and teacher.

Terry opened 2 The Point in 1998.  She teaches
group and private lessons.  She is the past
Chairman for TNNA The National Needlearts
Association needlepoint group and has taught
nationally

Madonna Needle Works (right), 15750 Vineyard
Blvd, Suite 170, Morgan Hill, has an astounding
selection of threads. It's a great place to go if you
are beginning a major project that will require a large
variety of materials. There are big tables down the
center of the shop where you can sit and stitch or
daydream. They also have a "husband recliner" where
your husband can nap while you shop.
Exclamation Point, (right) 14510 Big Basin
Way, Saratoga is well worth a stop if you are
in the area. The shop has been under several
ownerships in the past few years and the
current owner, Dee,  has done a great job of
updating and stocking canvases and threads.
Besides, Saratoga is a beautiful town to
explore and to stop for dinner;
