Stitch Knots . . .

Now What?  . . .
Lisa, at Auburn Needleworks, had my
favorite picture of LuLu silk screened onto a
16-ct needlepoint canvas. She is "sitting" for
her portrait daily and as long as the mailman
doesn't interrupt our stitching sessions, things
are going well. I'll post a picture of the
finished canvas in a few weeks.

I am thrilled to win 2nd place in the
Embellished category of the needlepoint
competition at the 2011 California State Fair.
My "Home From The Flower Market" is a
Melissa Shirley painted canvas from her Linda
Carter Holman collection. Melissa calls the
canvas "Louly." I made flowers using the
stumpwork technique, beaded the purse and
created tiny crochet trim for her dress. It is
the first time I have attempted stumpwork. I
really love this piece, although it is one of the
most challenging pieces I have ever done.

The "Sunset At Zephyr Point" is a canvas I
painted myself, following a photo I took of a
sunset while on retreat at Zephyr Point last
year. I've never painted a canvas before and
that was a challenge. I selected very basic
stitches and used a variety of cotton floss and
synthetic threads for the glittery effect.
